442,680 capsules of prescription drugs held in Kalpitiya

A search operation conducted by the Navy and Police led to the confiscation of 442,680 capsules of prescription drugs which had been hidden away in shrubs. The coordinated operation was conducted in the Musalpitiya area of Kalpitiya on 14th November 2024.

Based on information received by SLNS Vijaya in the Northwestern Naval Command, the search operation was mounted by Sri Lanka Navy in coordination with the Kalpitiya Police. The search in the Musalpitiya area made way for the recovery of this stash of prescription drugs (442,680 capsules), stuffed in 18 sacks, from nearby shrubs.

The haul of prescription drugs was handed over to the Kalpitiya Police for onward action.
