Two (02) suspects held with methamphetamine and prescription drug pills in Selwanayakapuram, Trincomalee

A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Police STF in Selwanayakapuram, Trincomalee on 15th October 2024 led to the apprehension of 02 suspects with 4g and 340mg of Methamphetamine (ICE) as well as 10 capsules and 20 tablets of prescription drugs, being smuggled to sell.

The operation was mounted by SLNS Mahaweli belonging to the Eastern Naval Command with the assistance of Sardhapura Police STF in the Selwanayakapuram area. During the operation, a group of persons were searched on suspicion and these 4g and 340mg of Methamphetamine (ICE), along with 10 capsules and 20 tablets of prescription drugs were recovered from their possession. Accordingly, 02 suspects and those items were taken into custody.

The two suspects held in this operation were identified as residents of Uppuweli, aged 23 and 28. The suspects along with Methamphetamine and prescription drugs were handed over to the Uppuweli Police for onward legal action.
