Suspect held with 1400 foreign fags at Port City entrance

In a coordinated operation by the Sri Lanka Navy and Central Divisional Crime Detective Bureau of Colombo, a suspect was arrested with 1400 foreign cigarettes prepared for sale. The raid took place around the Port City, Colombo on 02nd October 2024.

On receipt of information by SLNS Rangalla in the Western Naval Command, the search operation was conducted in coordination with the Central Divisional Crime Detective Bureau of Colombo, focusing on the Port City, Colombo. The search of a suspicious individual at the Port City entrance led to the seizure of these foreign cigarettes (1400) and arrest of the suspect (01).

The suspect held in this operation was identified as a resident of Palleyaya in Mathale, aged 53. The suspect along with foreign cigarettes was handed over to the Colombo Harbour Police for onward legal action.
