Woman with Kerala cannabis valued over Rs. 37 million held in Palai

A search operation conducted by the Navy and Police STF in Chavakachcheri, Palai on 15th September 2024 led to the apprehension of a woman with about 94kg and 520g of Kerala cannabis. The operation also resulted in the seizure of a cab used to smuggle narcotics.

The coordinated search operation was conducted by the Naval Deployment Veththalakerni in the Northern Naval Command with the assistance of Nelliady Police STF in Chavakachcheri area. The search led to the recovery of 52 parcels of Kerala cannabis in 04 sacks from a house in the area. The batch of Kerala cannabis weighed about 94kg and 520g. Accordingly, the stash of Kerala cannabis, a cab suspected of being used for drug smuggling, and a woman were arrested.

The gross street value of Kerala cannabis seized in this operation is believed to be over Rs. 37 million.

The suspect held in this operation was identified as a resident of Palai, aged 35. The suspect along with Kerala cannabis and the cab was handed over to the Palai Police for onward legal action.
