A person nabbed in Kalpitiya for possessing antiques suspected to be gold

A search operation carried out by the Navy and Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau, Puttalam in the Alankuda area of Kalpitiya on 11th May 2024 resulted in the arrest of an individual possessing antiques suspected to be gold.

The apprehension was made as a result of a combined search operation conducted by SLNS Vijaya in the Northwestern Naval Command and Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau, Puttalam in Alankuda area. After searching a house in the locality on suspicion, the raiding party was able to recover these antiques suspected to be gold from the house, resulting in the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect held in this operation was identified as a resident of Eththalei in Kalpitiya, aged 34. The accused, along with antique items, was handed over to the Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau, Puttalam for onward legal action.
