A suspect with 5033 prescription drugs arrested in Kalmunai

A coordinated operation conducted by the Navy and Police in Kalmunai on 04th April 2024, led to the arrest of a suspect (01) with 5033 prescription drugs, made ready for sale without valid licence.

The operation was mounted by SLNS Deegayu in the Southeastern Naval Command in coordination with the Periyaneelavanei Police in Kalmunai area. During this operation, the raiding party searched a house in the locality on suspicion and held 5033 prescription drugs, made ready for sale without valid licence. The operation also resulted in the arrest of a suspect (01) in connection to this incident.

The suspect held in this operation was identified as a resident of Maruthamunai 6, aged 63. The accused along with prescription drugs were handed over to the Food & Drug Inspector of Kalmunai for onward legal action.
