A suspect with cannabis mixed aphrodisiacs held in Medawachchiya

A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Excise Station – Kebithigollewa led to the apprehension of a suspect (01) with cannabis mixed aphrodisiacs (madana modaka) in Medawachchiya on 25th March 2024. There were 952 packets of aphrodisiacs in his possession, without valid licence to retail.

The apprehension was made during a coordinated search operation carried out by SLNS Pandukabhaya in the North Central Naval Command, with the assistance of Excise Station – Kebithigollewa. During this operation, the raiding party searched a retail shop in Medawachchiya due to suspicions and apprehended the suspect (01) for possessing 952 packets of cannabis mixed with aphrodisiacs intended for retail sale, without a valid license.

The suspect held in this operation was identified as a 40-year-old resident of Medawachchiya. The suspect along with 952 packets of aphrodisiacs was handed over to the Excise Station – Kebithigollewa for onward legal action.
