A suspect arrested in Kilinochchi with Kerala cannabis

A coordinated operation conducted by the Navy and Police in Uduththurei, Kilinochchi on 11th March 2024 led to the arrest of a suspect in possession of over 01kg of Kerala cannabis.

The search was conducted by the Naval Deployment Veththalakerni in the Northern Naval Command, with the assistance of Marudankerni Police, in Uduththurei area. During the operation naval and police personnel had searched a house on suspicion and recovered a parcel containing about 01kg and 997g of Kerala cannabis, buried in the backyard. Accordingly, the house owner was also arrested in connection to this incident.

Meanwhile, the gross street value of seized Kerala cannabis is believed to be about Rs. 798,800.00.

The suspect held in this operation was identified as a resident of the same locality, aged 38. The accused together with Kerala cannabis was handed over to the Marudankerni Police for onward legal action.
