Navy recovers Kerala cannabis valued over Rs. 01 million in Point Pedro

The Navy recovered over 03kg of Kerala cannabis, during a search operation conducted in the Manalkadu beach area of Point Pedro on 29th February 2024.

The Sri Lanka Navy remains ever alert and conducts regular operations in the coastal and beach areas around the island, with a view to preventing a wide range of nefarious activities.

In continuation of these efforts, the Point Pedro Naval Detachment in the Northern Naval Command made this recovery, during a search carried out in the Manalkadu beach area. Thus, naval personnel took hold of a suspicious parcel concealed in shrubs and recovered about 03kg and 600g of Kerala cannabis in it.

The gross street value of Kerala cannabis held in this operation is believed to be more than Rs. 01 million. The parcel of Kerala cannabis has been kept in the custody of the Navy, until it is produced to authorities for onward legal action.
