Navy aids in containing blaze on private property in Talaimannar
In a swift response to a distress call, the Navy on 12th February 2024 deployed its firefighters to assist in extinguishing a fire that broke out on private land in Talaimannar. The fire, which posed a threat to nearby properties and vegetation, was brought under control with the coordinated efforts of the Navy.
The fire that erupted on private property in Piergama, Talaimannar was detected on the afternoon of 12th February, by SLNS Thammanna in the North Central Naval Command. In response, SLNS Thammanna quickly dispatched two (02) water bowsers and a team of Navy firefighters to extinguish the flames.
The Navy firefighters, partnering with Army personnel in the area and local residents successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas.
