Two suspects held with 10600 medicinal capsules

The Sri Lanka Navy and Police STF apprehended 02 suspects with 10600 Pregabalin capsules and a motorcycle, during special search operations conducted in Mihinthale and Kattukarayankudirippu of Talaimannar on 12th and 13th of January 2024.

In a coordinated operation conducted by SLNS Pandukabhaya in the North Central Naval Command in collaboration with the Settikulam Police STF, a suspect in possession of 100 Pregabalin capsules was held in Mihinthale on 12th January. The suspect was peddling these medicinal drugs by a motorcycle, when he was searched on suspicion.

In a separate operation mounted by SLNS Thammanna with the assistance of the Police STF Northern Province Special Raid Unit in Kattukarayankudirippu area on 13th January, a person was interrogated on suspicion. Based on information revealed by the suspect, the naval and Police personnel discovered a sack of 10500 Pregabalin capsules hidden away in shrubs in the area.

The apprehended individuals were identified as residents of Mihinthale and Talaimannar, aged 23 and 38. The suspects together with medicinal drugs and the motorcycle were handed over to the Mihinthale and Talaimannar Police stations for onward legal action.
