Navy extends helping hand to flood victims in Trincomalee

The Sri Lanka Navy mobilized its flood relief teams to the Kinniya area of Trincomalee on 01st January 2024, to extend flood relief to affected communities in the area. As people in those localities are facing hardships due to floods in the wake of inclement weather, the Navy teams are currently working in full swing to alleviate the suffering of the affected communities.

As a result of the overflow of Mahaweli River, the Mailapanchaweli and Soluwadduwan areas of Kinniya have been inundated. In response to this eventuality, the Navy’s Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) relief teams implemented a boat service today (02nd January 2024), to meet the daily needs of those affected by the floods.

Moreover, the Navy stands ready to send out extra relief teams for the relief duties, whenever the need arises.
