Navy takes hold of consignment of medicinal pills in Mannar

The Sri Lanka Navy recovered a substantial quantity of Pregabalin pills, totaling 6000, during a search operation conducted in the coastal vicinity of Oluthuduwai, Mannar on 11th December 2023. These Pregabalin pills, concealed in the Oluthuduwai beach area, are suspected to have been smuggled into the country.

The Navy remains constantly vigilant and conducts operations to prevent illegal activities emanating from sea routes. As an extension of these efforts, SLNS Thammanna and SLNS Gajaba in the North Central Naval Command carried out this operation in Oluthuduwai beach area on 11th December. In this operation, naval personnel recovered 04 parcels hidden in the coastal vicinity and found about 6000 Pregabalin pills in them. Subsequently, the consignment of medicinal pills were taken into naval custody.

The medicinal pills recovered in this operation were handed over to the Divisional Crime Detective Bureau, Mannar for onward investigation.
