Navy rushes firefighting assistance to extinguish sudden fire erupted in Vavuniya

The Sri Lanka Navy rushed its firefighting team to Irattaperiyakulam in Vavuniya following a sudden fire broke out at a coir mill on the night of 21st July 2023.

The Navy rushed its firefighting team to the scene of fire after the Fire Service Department of Vavuniya Urban Council requested assistance from the Operations Room of the North Central Naval Command on the night of 21st July, to extinguish the blaze and prevent the spread of fire to nearby properties.

Responding promptly to the request for assistance, the Navy hurried a firefighting team with a fire engine and 02 water bowsers attached to SLNS Pandukabhaya.

Partnered with the Fire Service Department of Vavuniya Urban Council, other firefighting teams and residents the Navy firefighters rendered assistance to put out the fire, preventing further devastation.

Meanwhile, the Navy remains standby to extend relief to the public battered by such eventualities around the clock.
