A suspect with cards of Pregabalin capsules held in Kalpitiya

The Sri Lanka Navy apprehended a suspect with 42300 cards of Pregabalin capsules 150 mg, during a search at the Karamba roadblock in Kalpitiya on 24th June 2023. The apprehension was made while the suspect was carrying this controlled drug by a van, for sale.

The operation was conducted by SLNS Vijaya in the Northwestern Naval Command at Karamba roadblock in the dark hours of 24th June. Upon search of the suspicious vehicle, naval personnel recovered these 42300 cards of Pregabalin capsules being peddled by the suspect. Accordingly, the suspect along with Pregabalin capsules and the van was taken into naval custody.

The apprehended suspect is a resident of Rajagiriya, aged 29. The accused, along with controlled drugs and the van was handed over to the Norochcholai Police for onward legal action.
