A suspect with Kerala cannabis held in Kilinochchi

A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Police in Kilinochchi area on 11th May 2023 led to the apprehension of a suspect (01) with over 01kg of Kerala cannabis. The raiding party also held a motorbike used by the suspect to peddle the narcotic substance.

The coordinated search operation was conducted by naval personnel attached to Naval Deployment Veththalakerni belonging to the Northern Naval Command with the Kilinochchi Police. Accordingly, they searched a suspicious person riding a motorbike in Kilinochchi area on 11th May and recovered about 01kg and 670g of Kerala cannabis being peddled. Thus, the suspect, Kerala cannabis and the motorbike were taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the street value of the seized Kerala cannabis is believed to be around Rs. 550.000.

The suspect held in the operation is a resident of Mulliyan, aged 35. The suspect along with narcotics and the motorbike was handed over to the Kilinochchi Police for onward legal action.
