The Sri Lanka Navy conducted a special operation to chase away Indian poaching trawlers from Sri Lankan waters this morning (23rd March 2023). The operation led to the seizure of 02 Indian trawlers with 12 Indian nationals poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Analaitivu and Kovilan, Jaffna.

A coordinated operation conducted by the Navy and the Office of Mullaitivu Fisheries Inspector in Thuduwa area, Pulmoddai on 22nd March 2023 led to the apprehension of a suspect engaged in illegal fishing without valid pass. Along with the suspect, a dinghy and fishing equipment used for the illegal act were also taken into custody.
