A suspect apprehended with 04kg of Kerala cannabis in Sangupiddi area, Jaffna

A person transferring 02 parcels stuffed with 04kg of Kerala cannabis by a bus was apprehended during a combined search conducted by the Navy and Police at the Sangupiddi roadblock on the evening of 01st March 2023.

The search was carried out by SLNS Welusumana in the Northern Naval Command in coordination with the Punakari Police at the Sangupiddi roadblock on 01st March. The search led to the apprehension of the suspect on a Mannar bound bus from Jaffna, as he was carrying 02 parcels of Kerala cannabis weighing 04kg.

The street value of the seized stock of Kerala cannabis is believed to be over Rs. 01 million.

The suspect held in this search has been identified as a resident of the Analathivu Island in Jaffna, aged 26. The suspect along with Kerala cannabis was handed over to the Punakari Police for onward legal action.
