Navy renders assistance to restore operation of sluice gate of Kalugaloya Tank in Ampara
Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to restore the manual operation of a sluice gate of Kalugaloya Tank in Ampara on 20th October 2022, as it was not in working order.
The Navy swung into action to fix the issue, responding to the request of the Chief Engineer of the Office of Department of Irrigation in Ampara, as one of the two sluice gates of Kalugaloya Tank has not been in working order.
Accordingly, under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and instruction of Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda a team of Navy divers attached to the Southeastern Naval Command restored the operation of the defunct sluice gate, after a strenuous effort.
