Navy takes hold of Kerala cannabis worth more than Rs. 68 million in Mannar
Sri Lanka Navy took hold of over 228kg of Kerala cannabis abandoned in the beach area of Narivilkulam, during a special foot patrol carried out at the above beach on 21st September 2021.
Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting regular operations to prevent various illegal activities from sneaking through coastal areas. Similarly, a special foot patrol conducted by SLNS Pussadewa in the North Central Naval Command on 21st September, led to the recovery of this haul of Kerala cannabis abandoned by smugglers at Narivilkulam beach, afraid of naval operations. The stock of cannabis weighed around 228kg and 100g and had been stuffed in 103 parcels which were contained in 06 sacks.
Meanwhile, the street value of the haul of Kerala cannabis held is believed to be over. Rs. 68 million.
The operation was carried out in accordance with COVID-19 protocols and the stock of Kerala cannabis taken into naval custody will be set on fire and destroyed.
