Four (04) more teams of the Navy Rapid Response Rescue & Relief Unit (4RU) were deployed in the flood prone areas in Nagoda and Thawalama Divisional Secretariats in the Galle District today (13th May 2021).

The water level of the Gin Ganga bordering the Nagoda, Udugama and Thawalama areas in the Galle District has risen due to torrential rains received in those areas. In this backdrop, the Southern Naval Command has deployed 02 4RU flood relief teams in Nagoda and Udugama areas in the Nagoda Divisional Secretariat and 02 more relief teams in the Thawalama Divisional Secretariat, realizing the possible flood risk in those areas.

In the meantime, the Navy has kept 06 more relief teams on standby in the Southern Naval Command for immediate deployment, if the prevailing weather condition gets worsened.
