Navy assists raiding of local cannabis cultivation

The Navy in coordination with the Sooriyawewa Police STF had raided a local cannabis cultivation and apprehended 02 suspects at Balaharuwa in Thanamalwila on 11th September 2020.

The coordinated operation conducted at Balaharuwa in Thanamalwila by the Southern Naval Command with the Sooriyawewa Police STF led to uncover secretly cultivated 6,000 local cannabis plants, each had grown to a height of about 01 foot. The raiding party also nabbed 02 suspects on the location, in connection to this incident.

The cannabis plants were set on fire on the location itself and the accused who were identified as residents of the same area were handed over to the Thanamalwila Police for onward investigation.
