Navy apprehends 02 persons with explosive items

During a special operation conducted at Sallimunai in Trincomalee on 09th September 2020, the Navy and Police managed to apprehend 02 persons with explosive items.

Accordingly, this special operation conducted by the Eastern Naval Command in coordination with the Kuchchaveli Police, at Sallimunai area in Trincomalee, led to the apprehension of 02 suspects with 50 water gel sticks, 05 safety fuses, 01 non electrical detonator and a 2 ½ foot-long sword.

The two suspects have been identified as residents of Kuchchaveli area, aged 41 and 50. Meanwhile, the Kuchchaveli Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
