During 02 separate search operations conducted in the past week, the Navy managed to seize several explosive items used for illegal fishing and 03 unlicenced shot guns.

Incidentally, the Northern Naval Command during a search operation in Vellei beach area on the Delft Island took hold of 12 non electric detonators which are used for illegal fishing. In another operation carried out in Siribopura of Hambantota with the assistance of Ambalantota Police STF, the Southern Naval Command had apprehended a suspect for possession of an unlicensed 12 bore shotgun along with 05 ammunition and two (02) more 16 bore shotguns with 08 of their ammunition.

The seized explosive items were handed over to the Delft Police whereas the suspect with shot guns and ammunition had been produced to the Hambantota Police station for onward investigations.
