Navy swiftly responds to bring ashore an injured fisherman for urgent treatment
The Sri Lanka Navy swiftly responded to bring ashore an injured fisherman and transfer him to hospital, for urgent medical attention this morning (21 Jan 26). The fisherman was aboard a multiday fishing trawler on the high seas off the south coast and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo coordinated the retrieval of the fisherman.

Navy seizes 02 Indian fishing boats poaching in northern waters
During an operation conducted in the dark hours of 20 Jan 26, the Sri Lanka Navy seized two (02) Indian fishing boats and apprehended seven (07) Indian fishermen while they were poaching in Sri Lankan waters, off Kovilan, Jaffna.

Navy collars 04 suspects for illegal harvesting of sea cucumbers
During a search operation conducted in the Venpurinagar beach area of Jaffna on 20 Jan 26, the Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 04 individuals for their involvement in the illegal harvest of sea cucumbers. The suspects were taken into custody along with 351 sea cucumbers and a dinghy (01) used in the illicit activity.

In separate operations conducted by the Navy from 14 to 19 Jan 26, twenty-three (23) individuals involved in various illegal fishing activities were apprehended along with 05 dinghies and 01 trawler in multiple locations across the island.

Navy apprehends 13 individuals for illegal harvesting of sea cucumbers
During a search operation conducted in the sea area of Walaipadu of Kilinochchi, the Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 13 individuals for conducting illegal night diving to harvest sea cucumbers on 19 Jan 26. The operation also led to the seizure of 1108 illegally harvested sea cucumbers, 04 dinghies and diving equipment.
