Offshore Patrol Vessel P 627 - the most recent addition to SLN fleet arrives at Port of Colombo
The Offshore Patrol Vessel P 627, acquired to the Sri Lanka Navy from the United States (U.S.) Coast Guard, arrived at the Port of Colombo on the morning of 02nd November 2022. The ship began her home-bound journey from the Port of Seattle on 03rd September 2022 and arrived in Colombo after about 10656 nautical miles (19734 km) of sea passage. At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, the State Minister of Defence, Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, H.E. Julie Chung, Defence Secretary, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana and a host of distinguished guests were present on the occasion to welcome the ship.

Three (03) virtuous naval personnel commended by Commander of the Navy
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne recognized virtues of 03 naval personnel by awarding them with Letters of Commendation at the Naval Headquarters today (28th October 2022). The naval personnel has turned down bribes offered to drop charges on accused who involved in blast fishing and apprehended those 03 with a dinghy and 02 other individuals who offered a bounty for the release of their associates.

Offshore Patrol Vessel P 627 calls at Port of Changi in Singapore on her way home
The Offshore Patrol Vessel P 627 of Sri Lanka Navy, which set sail for her home-bound journey from Seattle, United States on 03rd September 2022, called at the Port of Changi in Singapore on 22nd October 2022. The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore, Mrs Sashikala Premawardhane was also present on this occasion to welcome the ship.

A 521 traces naval craft at sea without communication links
Sri Lanka Navy’s Auxiliary Ship A 521 on a dedicated search and rescue mission, this afternoon (18th October 2022) re-established communication links with the naval craft with which the Navy had no means of connection for about a month, since September 17th, when it was on a special surveillance operation off the southern coast.

High Dependency Unit at Command Hospital (South) declared open
The opening of the High Dependency Unit (HDU) at the Command Hospital (South) in Boossa, Galle was held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne on 05th October 2022. The construction of this HDU was made possible by industrial expertise of the Sri Lanka Navy and aid provided by Donor Institutions and Charity Organizations.

SLNS Gajabahu open doors for children on their special day
Sri Lanka Navy on 02nd October 2022 organized a special programme for the children, on the occasion of the World Children's Day celebrations, marked in Sri Lanka annually on 01st October. The programme was held onboard SLNS Gajabahu, allowing an unprecedented experience for a group of children who took part in the event.
