A ceremony to induct Surgeon Commodore Nandani Wijedoru as the seventh (07th) President of Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine (SLCOMM) was held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters on 24th March 2023. The ceremony was graced by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera as the Chief Guest.

Navy seizes 02 poaching trawlers in northern waters
The Sri Lanka Navy conducted a special operation to chase away Indian poaching trawlers from Sri Lankan waters this morning (23rd March 2023). The operation led to the seizure of 02 Indian trawlers with 12 Indian nationals poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Analaitivu and Kovilan, Jaffna.

Navy Seva Vanitha Unit organizes special programme to celebrate International Women's Day
The Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) today (11th March 2023) held a special programme to mark the International Women's Day, which fell on 08th March. The event was held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and the President of NSVU, Mrs Mala Lamahewa in the Welisara Naval Complex.

Commander of the Navy graces SBS insignia awarding ceremony as Chief Guest
The Special Boat Squadron (SBS) held an insignia awarding and passing out ceremony today (10th March 2023) to mark the termination of SBS training which was successfully completed by 01 officer and 31 sailors. At the invitation of the Commanding Officer SBS, Commander Dharmasiri Herath, the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, as the Chief Guest, graced the event which was held in a dignified sequence at the SBS Headquarters in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee.

National Sailing Championship – 2023 successfully concludes at Crow Island
The National Sailing Championship – 2023 was held at the picturesque Crow Island, Mattakkuliya on 05th and 06th March 2023. Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Sri Lanka Navy Sailing Pool put up an impressive show at the championship, recording multiple wins in various categories.

The Navy assists conduct of annual feast of St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchativu on successful note
The annual feast of St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchativu concluded on a successful note on 03rd and 04th March 2023. Kachchativu is an islet belonging to Sri Lanka, located close to the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) of Sri Lanka and India. The main mass of the church festival was conducted by the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Colombo, Rt. Rev. Anton Ranjith Pillenayagam, and proceedings of the event had been organised under the guidance of the District Secretary of Jaffna, Mr. A Sivabalasundaram and with the support of Navy Christian Council. The annual festival was attended by a number of devotees from both India and Sri Lanka. On behalf of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the main mass was attended by the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Aruna Tennekoon.

Navy brings distressed foreign pleasure craft in southern seas to Port of Hambantota for repairs
Sri Lanka Navy, in coordination with the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo, rendered assistance to bring ashore a non-motorised pleasure craft in distress off the southern coast on 02nd March 2023. The pleasure craft ‘Little Donkey’ belongs to New Zealand was on a marine research as it ran into a defect in its pedal based rowing system. Accordingly, the craft with 02 foreign crew members aboard were safely towed to the Port of Hambantota to fix the issue.
