His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka promoted Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva to the rank of Admiral with effect from 14^th July 2020.

Marking another first in the Sri Lankan history, Sri Lanka Navy today (09^th July 2020) launched the Maritime Doctrine of Sri Lanka (MDSL) at the Navy Headquarters, under the auspices of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.

Nine (09) persons who engaged in illegal harvesting of sea cucumber were apprehended by Navy during a patrol carried out in the seas Muddalampiddy, Mannar on 07^th July 2020.

With the reservation of the Navy General Hospital for treatment of corona infected patients as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, treatment for ordinary patient were restricted.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva declared open the ‘Sath Sith Sath Kam Piyasa’ new ward complex at Karapitiya Hospital today 13^th June 2020. This new ward complex of the hospital was constructed utilizing Navy’s manpower.
