The Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard are currently working together to control the fire that erupted after an explosion of a boiler in the main engine room of MT New Diamond, an oil tanker sailing 38 nautical miles off Sangamankanda Point east of Sri Lankan seas, around 8.00 a.m. on 03rd September 2020.

Fire breaks out on Panama-flagged New Diamond oil tanker
The Navy responding immediately to a distress signal of an explosion of a boiler followed by fire erupted in the main engine room of MT New Diamond, an oil tanker sailing 38 nautical miles off Sangamankanda Point east of Sri Lanka, promptly dispatched a group of emergency relief serving ships to the location for relief assistance today (03rd September 2020).

Navy-devised Reverse Osmosis plant vested in the public
Another Reverse Osmosis plant installed as part of a Naval Social Responsibility initiative at the Debarawewa National School in Tissamaharama was declared open for the benefit of school children under the patronage of Hon. Naval operations net about 1,428kg of smuggled turmeric
Naval operations conducted in Norochcholai and on Wella Island in Kalpitiya on 29th August 2020 led to the recovery of about 1,428kg of dried turmeric attempted to be smuggled into the country by sea.
