In an attempt to arrest the spread of coronavirus among the public, Sri Lanka Navy today (07th October 2020) carried out a disinfection programme at the Provincial Main Passenger Bus Terminal, Colombo Fort which is frequented by a large number of commuters on daily basis.

The Ranaviru Seva Authority organized a mobile service for the wellbeing of families of deceased, differently abled, missing and retired war heroes of Tri-Services, Police and Civil Security Department. This timely initiative got underway at the Regimental Centre of Gajaba Regiment in Saliyapura on 03^rd October 2020 from 0800hrs to 1700hrs, under the precedence of Secretary Defence, Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne, Tri-Service Commanders and Acting Inspector General of Police.

The Navy nabbed 02 suspects with a stock of over 902kg of dried turmeric, while being smuggled by sea. The apprehension was made at the Thalvupadu Beach in Mannar, during a special search conducted by the Navy on 02^nd October 2020.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, after being appointed as the 24^th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, left for Northern Naval Command for a sudden visit on 26th September 2020.

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) ships which arrived in Sri Lanka on 23rd September 2020, departed from the island yesterday (24th September), on successful completion of a combined naval exercise carried out with the Sri Lanka Navy.

Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, one of the proud products of Royal College Colombo, was felicitated in a fitting ceremony for his ascension to the pinnacle of the Navy by his alma mater today (18^th September 2020).

After assuming office as the 24th Commander of Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne paid his maiden visit to the Eastern Naval Command on 10th September 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy and other damage control teams, through their continuous missions, have successfully doused the re-ignited fire triggered by adverse weather onboard MT New Diamond on 07th September.

Disaster relief teams today (09th September 2020) successfully doused the fire on board MT New Diamond crude oil tanker. Three (03) member team from salvor boarded the fire-damaged ship for the first time today and carried out a preliminary investigations. Meanwhile, a team of experts from the Sri Lanka Navy and the Indian Coast Guard is scheduled to board the distressed ship to make an assessment for onward action. The team would deliver updates about the existing damages and safety condition of the ship in the time to come.
