Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne presided over an all-night Pirith chanting and alms giving ceremonies held at the Welisara Naval Complex on 03rd and 04th December 2021. These religious rituals were performed customarily to invoke blessings on the 71st anniversary of Sri Lanka Navy, falling on 09th December.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne declared open navy-improved facilities at Athbatuwa Junior School in Hungama and Veeriyagama Maha Vidyalaya in Sooriyawewa in the Hambantota district today (29th November 2021). The occasions of bestowing these new facilities upon children of respective schools were also attended by the President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne.

To coincide with the series of religious events held in view of the 71st anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy, the Navy Christian Council organized a Christian Commemoration & Thanksgiving Service at St. Lucia’s Cathedral in Colombo on 23rd November 2021. The Christian Commemoration & Thanksgiving Service conducted by Auxiliary Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Anton Ranjith and clergies was presided by Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

The Sandahiru Seya constructed in the sacred city of Anuradhapura was declared open on an auspicious note by His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Hon. Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa on the Ill Full Moon Poya Day (18th November 2021). The spiritual ceremony held amidst the blessings of Maha Sangha was attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne in the company of President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne presided the spiritual Kanchuka Puja and Flag Blessing ceremonies held at the Ruwanwelisaya and Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura on 11th and 12th November 2021. The Buddhist Association of Sri Lanka Navy organized these events to invoke blessings on the forthcoming 71st anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy falling on 09th December.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne attended the Goa Maritime Conclave (GMC) – 2021 hosted by the Indian Navy for the third time, under the aegis of Naval War College, Goa from 07th to 09th November 2021.

Sri Lanka Navy’s middle and long distance athlete Leading Women Sailor, Gayanthika Abeyrathna received a service promotion to the next higher rate of Petty Officer from Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne effective from today (02nd November 2021).

Sri Lanka Navy Leading Women Sailor Gayanthika Abeyrathna set two new Sri Lanka records in women's 1500m and 5000m at the 99th National Athletics Championships held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. The Asian Gold Medalist set these two new records in respective events held on 30th and 31st October 2021.
