46 SLN marines pass out on successful completion of their training

On successful completion of their training, 02 officers and 42 sailors belonging to the Sri Lanka Navy’s Marine Battalion passed out today (09 January 2020) at the Marine Battalion Headquarters in Sampur, Trincomalee.

The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva graced the Passing Out and Insignia Investiture Ceremony as the chief guest. Addressing the invited guests, passing out personnel and their family members, the Commander of the Navy stated that the Marine Battalion is consists of personnel who have improved their exclusive skills and versatility and they are the SLN’s elite Marine Battalion renowned for their dexterity in a wide variety of warfare which include executing amphibious operations with precision and defending the island-nation from enemy attacks, descending on any part of its coast and further it is a force which the Navy can effectively deploy to prevent illegal activities, drug trafficking, illegal trade occur around the coastal line and to assist the people at any disastrous situation. The POP was also made colourful by the performances displayed by the Navy cultural troop. Signifying this occasion, a memento was presented to the Commander of the Navy by the Marine Battalion.

Commander Eastern Naval Area, Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, Director Marine, senior naval officers of the Eastern Naval Command, senior and junior sailors and family members of passing out personnel were also present on the occasion.
