48 Navy teams remain standby to extend relief to people affected by inclement weather

Sri Lanka Navy has kept 48 relief teams standby as of the morning of 02nd August 2022, to provide relief to the people who would be vulnerable to flash floods, with possible rise of the water levels of rivers, due to heavy downpour reported in several parts of the island.

A group of Indian fishermen stranded in Sri Lankan waters rescued by the Navy

Sri Lanka Navy rescued 06 distressed Indian fishermen drifted to the Sri Lankan waters north of Talaimannar, with their defunct trawler. The rescued Indian fishermen were provided humanitarian assistance and handed over to another Indian fishing trawler at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

The Navy this evening (16th July 2022) sprang into action to control a sudden fire erupted at a place where scrap metal is collected, and worked in full swing to prevent the flames spreading to surrounding area.

MRCC Colombo renders assistance to rescue a group of distressed fishermen in high seas

The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo today (11th July 2022) coordinated the rescue of 03 fishermen whose lives were at risk aboard a distressed local fishing trawler at sea. The fishing trawler was in high seas southeast of Sri Lanka, about 174 nautical miles (about 322 km) from the Great Basses Reef Lighthouse.

MRCC Colombo renders assistance to rescue a group of distressed fishermen in Arabian Sea

Ship MT-ALTAIR rescued 05 persons in distress aboard a local multiday fishing trawler that went into a mechanical failure, while in Arabian Sea on 20th June 2022. The rescue was coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo established at the Navy Headquarters.

Navy teams continue to provide relief to people affected by adverse weather

Sri Lanka Navy this morning (01st June 2022) deployed 13 relief teams in flood-risk areas in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces to extend relief to flood victims in those areas. Accordingly, the Navy relief teams are currently working in full swing to assist affected communities in respective areas as of now.

Navy renders assistance to bring ashore ill fisherman for treatment

Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to bring ashore an ill fisherman and rushed him for treatment this evening (15th May 2022). The fisherman who was aboard a local multiday fishing trawler had suddenly fallen ill and was in need of medical attention, while in seas off the eastern coast.
