Navy continues island wide Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief efforts

The Sri Lanka Navy continued its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations on 01 Dec 25, extending vital support to communities affected by the recent floods. These efforts included the provision of medical care, dry rations, drinking water and the restoration of essential services in affected areas.

Navy medical teams rendered much-needed healthcare services to flood affected community in Avissawella and ferried a critical patient from Silawathura to Mannar for medical attention. Additionally, naval personnel distributed dry ration and drinking water to impacted families in Avissawella, Biyagama, Chilaw, and Gampola.

Further, naval personnel assisted in cleaning flood-affected public facilities and houses in the Ganga Siripura area under the Tissamaharama Divisional Secretariat. The Navy further supported the Chilaw District General Hospital with drinking water, repaired a damaged water pump belonging to the Divulapitiya Water Supply and Drainage Board and removed accumulated silt at the Gohagoda Water Treatment Plant in Kandy.

Moreover, the Sri Lanka Navy’s disaster relief teams continue to remain actively engaged across the island, ensuring timely support and essential services to flood-affected communities.
