157 individuals saved from floodwaters in Illuppukadavai and Settikulam

The Sri Lanka Navy, on 30 Nov 25, rescued 157 persons affected by flooding in the Illuppukadavai and Settikulam areas of Mannar, following heavy rainfall. The rescue operations ensured that all those impacted were safely relocated and provided with essential relief.

Of the total, 106 persons from Sithumnagar, Anamotte, Sherettikulam and Shivapuram, areas impacted by the overflow of the Kurai and Sherettikulam tanks, were evacuated to safety. In addition, 51 persons affected by rising water levels of the Malwathu Oya in the Settikulam area were also rescued and transferred to secure locations by the Navy’s disaster response teams.
