Navy seizes about 1000kg of smuggled dried turmeric and nabs 02 suspects in Kalpitiya
Sri Lanka Navy managed to take hold of about 1000kg of smuggled dried turmeric during special operations carried out in the lagoon and beach areas of the Ippanthivu Island in Kalpitiya on 25th October 2021. The operations also led to the apprehension of 02 suspects and 03 fishing vessels in connection to those smuggling attempts.

Navy takes hold of over 2272kg of smuggled dried turmeric in separate operations
Special operations conducted by the Navy led to the recovery of over 2272kg of smuggled dried turmeric in seas off Ariyalai, Jaffna, beach areas of Kolankanaththa in Puttalam and Yahappar in Mannar on 19th October 2021. The Navy also managed to take hold of a dinghy used for this illegal act, during the operations.

Navy takes hold of over 1220kg of smuggled dried turmeric
The Navy took hold of about 1220kg and 700g of smuggled dried turmeric, during special operations conducted at beach of Thewampiddi in Mannar, beach area of Nachchikuda in Mulankavil and Palleimunai in Mannar on 17th and 18th October 2021. The operations also made way to the seizure of a dinghy, a three-wheeler and a suspect in connection to these incidents.

Navy nets in over 2344kg of smuggled dried turmeric
Sri Lanka Navy took hold of about 2344kg of smuggled dried turmeric (with wet weight), during special operations mounted in north-western seas and beach area of Marathandikuda, on 05th and 06th October 2021. The operations also led to the apprehension of 02 suspects involved in these illegal activities.

Navy takes hold of over 1334kg of smuggled dried turmeric in separate operations
Sri Lanka Navy seized another 02 consignments of smuggled dried turmeric weighing over 1334kg, during special operations carried out in seas off the Gurunagar, Jaffna and in the beach area of Kudawa, Kalpitiya this morning (02nd October 2021). The operations also made way to the apprehension of 03 suspects involved in those rackets.

Naval operations in coastal waters around the island net in 4940kg of smuggled dried turmeric with 11 suspects
Special operations carried out by the Navy in Karukapane of Chilaw, Negombo and on Analathivu Island, Jaffna today (01st October 2021) as well as in Chavakachcheri, Jaffna on the night of 30th September led to the seizure of over 4940kg of dried turmeric and more than 1111kg of Kendu leaves with 11 suspects involved in those rackets.

A suspect nabbed in Nilaveli for illegal transportation of commercial explosives
A special operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with the Nilaveli Police made way to the apprehension of a suspect with a cache of explosives, at 08th Mile Post in Nilaveli on 24th September 2021. The apprehension was made while suspect was illegally transporting the explosive items among which were; 27 water gel sticks - a type of commercial explosive and 500 non-electric detonators.
