Navy intercepts 02 Indian fishing trawlers carrying over 4000kg of Kendu Leaves in northwestern waters
A naval patrol conducted in Sri Lanka’s waters northwest of the island on the night of 05th December 2022 led to the interception of 02 Indian fishing trawlers carrying over 4000 kg of Kendu Leaves. The Navy also took hold of 08 Indian nationals involved in this illegal act, along with the large consignment of contraband.

Navy seizes Kerala cannabis worth over Rs. 12 million gross street value in northern waters
Sri Lanka Navy intercepted a dinghy which was carrying Kerala cannabis weighing over 41kg (in wet weight), during a special operation conducted in the sea area off the Kalmunai Point, Jaffna in the wee hours of today (14th November 2022). The operation also led to the apprehension of a suspect (01) in connection to the incident.

A suspect with over 08kg of heroin worth around Rs. 166 million gross street value apprehended in Beruwala
Sri Lanka Navy and Police Narcotic Bureau recovered about 08kg 304g of heroin (including packages) worth around Rs. 166 million in gross street value, during a special operation mounted in Dias Watta area, Beruwala on the morning of 07th November 2022. Meanwhile, the raiding party also apprehended a suspect in connection to the incident.

Navy seizes local fishing trawler carrying over 331kg of heroin worth around Rs. 6622 - 13244 Mn gross street value in southern waters
A special operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with the Police Special Task Force and Police Narcotic Bureau off the Great Basses Reef Lighthouse Hambantota, led to the interception of a local fishing trawler carrying over 331kg of heroin (Including packages), worth around Rs. 6622 – 13244 million in gross street value and apprehension of 06 suspects on 05th November 2022. The drug-carrying trawler and the suspects were brought to the Galle Harbour this morning (07th November). Meanwhile, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne also arrived at the Galle Harbour to inspect the consignment.
