Navy seizes multiday fishing trawler with approx. 121kg of heroin and hashish valued about Rs. 2800 Mn and nabs 06 suspects in southern seas
Based on information derived from a coordinated intelligence operation conducted by the State Intelligence Service and Sri Lanka Navy, a local multiday fishing trawler carrying about 111kg and 606g of heroin (including packages) and about 10kg and 254g (including packages) of hashish was intercepted by SLNS Vijayabahu on 13th May 2023. The special operation mounted about 413 nautical miles (about 764km) off Dondra, South of Sri Lanka, also led to the apprehension of 06 suspects involved in this illegal act. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, arrived at the Colombo Harbour this morning (18th May) to personally inspect the seized consignment.

Navy takes hold of over 836kg of smuggled Kendu leaves in Kalpitiya
The Navy seized over 836kg of smuggled Kendu leaves during separate operations carried out off Paramunai and Kudawa beach area in Kalpitiya on 30th April and 01st May 2023. The search operations also led to the apprehension of 01 dinghy and 02 persons in connection to the acts of smuggling.

Navy intercepts fishing trawler carrying over 179 kg of heroin with street value of over Rs. 3593 Mn, apprehends 06 suspects in southern seas
In a coordinated operation conducted out by the Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Coast Guard, based on information of the State Intelligence Service, a local multi-day fishing trawler carrying about 179 kg and 654g (including packages) of heroin was intercepted about 132 nautical miles (about 244km) off the Little Basses, Hambantota on 15th April 2023. The operation, carried out by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship ‘Samudraraksha’, also resulted in the apprehension of six (06) suspects. This morning (17th April), the consignment of narcotic drugs and the suspects were brought to the Galle harbour where Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera was present to inspect them.
