A suspect held with Pregabalin capsules in Trincomalee

A search operation conducted by the Navy and Police Special Task Force (STF) led to the arrest of a suspect (01) with 350 Pregabalin capsules which had been made ready to sell. The coordinated operation was mounted at the Abayapura Junction in Trincomalee on 17th July 2024.

During this operation, SLNS Mahaweli in the Eastern Naval Command and Police Special Task Force in Sardhapura searched a person (01) on suspicion at the Abayapura Junction. The search led to the recovery of 350 Pregabalin capsules which had been made ready to sell, in the possession of the suspect. Accordingly, the individual and prescription drugs were taken into custody.

The suspect held in this operation was identified as a resident of Trincomalee, aged 24. The accused, along with Pregabalin capsules, was handed over to the Uppuweli Police for onward legal action.
