A suspect with Kerala cannabis valued over Rs. 01 million held in Kilinochchi

A coordinated operation conducted by the Navy and Police STF in Uduththurei, Kilinochchi on the evening of 05th March 2024 led to the arrest of a suspect and seizure of over 03kg of Kerala cannabis and a motorcycle.

The combined search operation was carried out by the Naval Deployment Veththalakerni in the Northern Naval Command and Police STF Kilinochchi. During this operation, a motorcycle was intercepted on suspicion and it was revealed that the rider was peddling about 03kg and 960g of Kerala cannabis. Accordingly, the suspect along with Kerala cannabis and the motorbike was taken into custody.

The gross street value of seized Kerala cannabis is believed to be over Rs. 01 million.

The suspect held in this operation was identified as a resident of Uduththurei – north, aged 22. The accused, along with Kerala cannabis and the motorcycle was handed over to the Maradankerni Police for onward legal action.
