Navy SC wins under 24 open rugby 7s championship and crowned plate champion in Nippon Paint Inter Club Rugby League
The Navy Sports Club (SC) won the western province under 24 open rugby 7s championship and crowned as plate champion in the Nippon Paint Inter Club Rugby League 2021/2022 recent rugby encounters. Calling on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne who is also the President of Navy Sports Board at the Navy Headquarters today (21st September 2022), the winning captains of respective teams shared a moment with Commander of the Navy with the trophies clinched by the Navy.

Navy wins gold and bronze medals as most popular and best government website
‘The official website of Sri Lanka Navy (www.navy.lk) was recognized with a gold medal for the most popular government website category and a bronze medal for the best government website category at the BestWeb.lk 2022 competition, hosted by LK Domain Registry. The respective medals won by the Navy in the competition were presented to Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters on 20th September 2022.

Commander of the Navy presides enshrinement of sacred relics and unveiling of spire of Swarnapinda Chaithya in Kithulkote
The spiritual ceremony which saw the enshrinement of sacred relics in stupa and unveiling of spire of historic Swarnapinda Chaithya in Kithulkote was held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Chandima Ulugetenne at the Rathana Sadaham Meditation Center, Kithulkote in Thanamalwila on 18th September 2022. The meritorious deed was organized with the contribution of Sri Lanka Navy’s Buddhist Association.

Navy netball players represented Sri Lanka at the Asian Netball Championship advanced to next rate
Two players from the Sri Lanka Navy, namely Woman Leading Seaman, Deepika Abeykoon (WVS 66974) and Woman Able Seaman Hasitha Mendis (WV 76519) represented the victorious Sri Lanka team that went on to win the Asian Netball Championship title. In recognition of their stellar performances, which ultimately brought much glory to the Navy and the Nation, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne felicitated the players and advanced them to the next respective rates during a brief ceremony held in this regard at the Navy Headquarters today (15th September 2022). In addition, the 02 players were also presented with cash rewards worth Rs. 250,000.00 each, motivating to bring out the best from the sportspersons in the Navy.

A workshop on “Coral Species Identification and Reef Restoration” intending to broaden the scope of Navy divers, was successfully held at the Command Diving & Salvage Unit (East) in Naval Dockyard Trincomalee and Sandy Bay on 13th and 14th September 2022.
