The graduation ceremony of Course No.2 of the National Defence College (NDC), Sri Lanka was held under the auspices of the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe at Eagles’ Lakeside, Aththidiya on 21st November 2023. The colourful ceremony, held in dignified sequence, was also attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

The Sri Lanka Navy today (23rd November 2023) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Jalaj Ponnamperuma who relinquished his naval duties to which he was committed over the past 35 years.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera along with the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Mala Lamahewa attended the Joint Christian Commemoration & Thanksgiving Service at All Saints' Church – Borella on 21st November 2023.

The annual Katina Pinkama ceremony of Rathana Sadaham Meditation Centre in Kithulkote, Thanamalwila was successfully held with the assistance of Sri Lanka Navy on 18th and 19th November 2023.

The 33rd Junior Naval Staff Course (JNSC) successfully concluded at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee on 18th November 2023. The certificate awarding ceremony, held at the auditorium of NMA, was graced by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, as the Chief Guest, at the invitation of Commandant NMA, Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera hosted a customary evening reception for the officers of the Course No 2 of National Defence College (NDC), Sri Lanka at the Western Naval Command Wardroom on 17th November 2023.

Demonstrating its deep reverence, the Sri Lanka Navy held the Kanchuka Puja and Naval Flag Blessing Ceremony under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, along with the attendance of the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Mala Lamahewa on 16th and 17th November 2023. The events, organized by the Naval Buddhist Association, unfolded at the Ruwanwelisaya and Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura, in anticipation of invoking blessings on the forthcoming 73rd Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy, slated for 09th December 2023.

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Kora, which made a port call at in Colombo on 16th November 2023, departed the island today (17th November) on successful completion of her visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship in compliance with time-honored naval traditions, at the port of Colombo.

In a proud ceremony held at the parade ground of the Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) Headquarters in Gangewadiya, Puttalam, 36 naval personnel (02 officers and 34 sailors) were awarded insignia, marking the successful completion of the RABS Qualifying Course No 27. The dignified ceremony was graced by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, as the Chief Guest, at the invitation of Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris.

In a significant display of maritime collaboration and strategic engagement, the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition and the Indo Pacific Sea Power Conference 2023, hosted by the Royal Australian Navy, were successfully held from 06th to 09th November 2023 in Sydney, Australia. Amidst a gathering of naval leaders, defence experts, and maritime industry professionals across the globe, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera also attended this year’s naval defence exposition and conference.
