Commander of the Navy graces SBS insignia awarding ceremony as Chief Guest
The Special Boat Squadron (SBS) held an insignia awarding and passing out ceremony today (10th March 2023) to mark the termination of SBS training which was successfully completed by 01 officer and 31 sailors. At the invitation of the Commanding Officer SBS, Commander Dharmasiri Herath, the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, as the Chief Guest, graced the event which was held in a dignified sequence at the SBS Headquarters in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee.

The Navy assists conduct of annual feast of St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchativu on successful note
The annual feast of St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchativu concluded on a successful note on 03rd and 04th March 2023. Kachchativu is an islet belonging to Sri Lanka, located close to the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) of Sri Lanka and India. The main mass of the church festival was conducted by the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Colombo, Rt. Rev. Anton Ranjith Pillenayagam, and proceedings of the event had been organised under the guidance of the District Secretary of Jaffna, Mr. A Sivabalasundaram and with the support of Navy Christian Council. The annual festival was attended by a number of devotees from both India and Sri Lanka. On behalf of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the main mass was attended by the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Aruna Tennekoon.

Sri Lanka Navy prepares for annual Kachchativu Feast
The annual Kachchativu Feast is set to take place on the 03rd and 04th of March 2023 on the Kachchativu Island. Kachchativu is a small islet belonging to Sri Lanka, located near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) of Sri Lanka and India. The main mass of the annual feast will be conducted by the Bishop of Jaffna Diocese, Rt. Rev. Justin Gnanapragasam. In the backdrop where the District Secretary of Jaffna has made necessary arrangements for the event, the Sri Lanka Navy works in full swing to establish infrastructure and facilities for the convenience of devotees.

INS Sukanya departs after successful naval exercise
The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sukanya which arrived in Colombo on 27th February 2023 on a three-day official visit, departed the island today (01st March). At her departure, the ship conducted a naval exercise with SLNS Gajabahu of the Sri Lanka Navy and the Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship in accordance with naval traditions at the Port of Colombo.

Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan leaves the island concluding official visit
The Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi who arrived in Sri Lanka on 25th February 2023 on an official visit, left for Pakistan from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today (28th February).

Thirteen (13) Marine personnel pass out on successful completion of training
The insignia awarding to 04 officers and 09 sailors of the 08th intake of Sri Lanka Navy Marines, who successfully completed their training, was held at the main parade ground of SLNS Vidura in Sampoor, Trincomalee on 27th February 2023. The ceremony was graced by Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Pradeep Rathnayake, at the invitation of the Commandant SLNS Vidura, Captain Rohan Dissanayake.
