As part of the Navy's community development programme in the Mannar district, the North Western Naval Command in collaboration with the State Pharmaceutical Corporation conducted a field health clinic at the Tamil Mixed Catholic School in Mullikulam on 25th January 2014 under the patronage of Commander North Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral NKD Nanayakkara.

A team of the United States Marine Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage at the Naval Headquarters on 22nd January 2014.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Sri Lanka Navy and the Eastern University for collaboration in higher education on 17th January 2014.
