Commander of the Navy opens Air Rifle Club at Naval Dockyard
In a bid to provide recreational facilities to those visiting the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera on 30th April 2023 opened the relocated Air Rifle Club in a location nearby the Naval Museum.

388 Navy recruits set sail into service after passing out in Poonewa
In a proud moment for the Sri Lanka Navy, three hundred and eighty-eight (388) recruits of the 250th intake of Sri Lanka Navy Regular and Volunteer Forces passed out at the main parade ground of SLNS Shiksha on 13th May 2023. The recruits consisted of 345 from the Regular Force and another 43 from the Volunteer Force.

Commander of the Navy embarks on official visit to North Central Naval Command
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera embarked on an official visit to the North Central Naval Command on 11th May 2023. During this visit, he focused on the command's operational, training, and welfare concerns and also addressed a cross section of officers and sailors attached to the command, on Navy's intentions, preparedness for operations, and as how to prudently overcome challenges in career.

Sri Lanka Navy empowers women with sea duty assignments for the first time
In a groundbreaking move, the Sri Lanka Navy has made history by assigning its first group of women to sea duties. Accordingly, the first group of Navy women including two (02) lady officers and five (05) women sailors were attached to SLNS Gajabahu this morning (11th May 2023), marking a momentous step forward.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera attended the IMDEX Asia 2023 - Asia Pacific's Leading Naval and Maritime Defence Event and International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC) held from 03rd to 05th May 2023 at the Changi Exhibition Centre, Singapore.

Navy adds colour to Perahera of Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone
The Perahera of Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone was colourfully held on the night of 06th May 2023. Following the wise counsel of Anunayake of Hunupitiya Gangaramaya, Venerable Dr Kirinde Assaji Thero and directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Buddhist Association of the Sri Lanka Navy had made arrangements in place for the successful conduct of the colourful procession. The Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone of Hunupitiya Gangaramaya is held as part of the 2567th Anniversary of Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi.

Navy commemorates 2567th Anniversary of Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi giving pride of place to religious practices
Going by the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Sri Lanka Navy commemorated the 2567th Anniversary of Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi on 05th May 2023. Thus, all Naval Commands have organised Buddhist religious events giving pride of place to Material and Practice Offerings (Amisa and Prathipaththi Puja). The Navy also added glamour to the 'Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone' and State Vesak Festival at Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Viharaya.

Chief of the Air Staff of Indian Air Force meets Commander of the Navy
The Chief of the Air Staff of Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari who is now on an official visit to Sri Lanka, met with the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters, Colombo today (02nd May 2023).

Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee recognized for environmentally conscious operations
The Presidential Environment Awards 2021- 2022 was held on 28th April 2023 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, under the patronage of the President Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe. The ceremony saw the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee winning the golden award for Navy’s environmentally conscious operations. The Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara received the golden award from the President on this occasion.

Logistics Conference - 2023 and Certificate Awarding of LLMC No. 7 conclude in Trincomalee
The Logistics Conference - 2023 and Certificate Awarding of Long Logistics Management Course (LLMC) No.7 were held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 29th and 30th April 2023. At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Logistics Conference was graced by the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe.
