The first session of the 12th Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference, was held under the theme “Marine Environment under Changing Dynamics”. The session was moderated by Prof. Ronán Long, Director World Maritime University -Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute.

The 12th Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference commenced on 24 Sep 25 at the Wave n' Lake Navy Hall in Welisara, marking a gathering of global maritime expertise. Organized by the Sri Lanka Navy under the patronage of the Ministry of Defence, the event drew participation from 37 nations and international organizations. The opening day of the conference concluded on a successful note, featuring discussions spread across three sessions, including a Plenary Session, under the theme of ‘Maritime Outlook of the Indian Ocean under Changing Dynamics’.

The Sri Lanka Navy, under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence, inaugurated the 12th edition of the Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference today, 24 Sep 25. The inaugural ceremony held at the Wave n' Lake Navy Hall in Welisara, was presided over by the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Hon. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted an awareness programme on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) hazards, including practical exercises at Ashroff Jetty, Trincomalee on 23 Sep 25.

The Sri Lanka Navy, under the patronage of the Ministry of Defence, is proud to host the twelfth edition of the Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference, commencing tomorrow (24 Sep 25), at the Wave n' Lake Navy Hall in Welisara. The inaugural ceremony will be graced by the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Hon. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

In continuation of Naval Social Responsibility initiatives, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted a series of mobile dental clinics from 16 to 22 Sep 25 in the Anuradhapura District.

Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, the Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, arrived in Sri Lanka on a four-day official visit, met with the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda at the Navy Headquarters in Colombo today (22 Sep 25).

In an event that underscored the Sri Lanka Navy's enduring commitment to institutional knowledge and professional development, a special session with the former Director Generals of the Electrical & Electronic Engineering branch was held at the Western Naval Command Wardroom on 17 Sep 25.

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted an awareness programme for the fishing community in Negombo on 19 Sep 25 at SLNS Kelani, Uswetakeiyawa. The programme focused on combating drug trafficking and illegal fishing, while also addressing the challenges faced by fishermen engaged in lawful practices.

An awareness programme on the Procurement Guidelines 2024 and the Bid Evaluation process was held on 17 Sep 25 at the Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters. Organized with the objective of enhancing the professional competence of naval personnel the programme was enriched by the expertise of Mr. GSK Samaratunga, Chief Accountant, Finance Division of the Presidential Secretariat.
