Naval personnel attached to SLNS Uttara, SLNS Kanchadewa and SLNS Agbo provided relief assistance to the civilians affected by the floods in Madagal and Kayts areas. They distributed food, water and other essential items to the affected residents and ferried civilians to safe places as many of the roads in Iranamadu had been inundated.

On receipt of information from the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Sri Lanka Navy immediately dispatched a naval craft on 16th November 2015 to assist a patient onboard a fishing trawler named 'Oshani 1' which was at 65 nautical miles east of Trincomalee.

Promptly responding to the requests made by the Divisional Secretariat of Pooneryn and Nachchikuda police, the naval personnel attached to SLNS Buwaneka in Nachchikuda and the Rapid, Response, Rescue, and Relief Squadron (4Rs) personnel attached to SLNS Pandukabhaya in Poonewa assisted civilians to cross the flooded bridge on Mannar- Jaffna main road (A32) at Mandagal Aru on 15th and 16th November 2015.

The Secretary of Defence, Mr Karunasena Hettiarachchi visited the Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Navy on 16th November 2015. He was accorded a Guard of Honour on arrival and warmly received by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, who introduced him to the Chief of Staff, Director Generals and Area Commanders of the Navy.

Naval troops attached to SLNS Walagamba rescued 5 persons on 14th November 2015 during their deployment on flood relief in the Kattakulam, Thiriyaya.

Sri Lanka Navy’s elite Special Boat Squadron (SBS) celebrated the SBS Day on 14th November 2015 at its headquarters in Trincomalee giving priority to religious observances.

The inter command handball tournament - 2015 was held at SLNS Nipuna in Galle from 10th to 13th November 2015 with the participation of all commands of the Sri Lanka Navy.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne congratulated the five Navy karatekas on their excellent performance which enabled Sri Lanka to be the runner-up at the 08th Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi, India, when they called on him at the Naval Headquarters on 13th November 2015.

Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to repatriate 126 Indian fishermen on 13th November 2015.

The Commanding General of the United States Marine Corps Installation West (MCI-West), Brigadier General Edward D Banta called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters on 13th November 2015.
