The French Naval Ship Lorraine this morning (11th July 2023) arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit. The ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval tradition.

A delegation from the Australian Border Force led by the Commander Joint Agency Task Force Operation Sovereign Borders of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), Rear Admiral Justin Jones called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters in Colombo today (10th July 2023).

A Visit, Board, Search & Seizure (VBSS) Course conducted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) successfully concluded at the Special Boat Squadron (SBS) Headquarters, Trincomalee. The certificate awarding of the course was held on 07th July 2023 under the auspices of the Programme Coordinator, Indian Ocean East Team of Global Maritime Crime Programme, Miss Siji Song.

A two-day training programme aimed at enhancing the awareness of Tri-Forces officers on the subjects of human trafficking and smuggling was successfully held in Colombo on 04th and 05th July 2023. This significant initiative was made possible through the collaboration between the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and National Anti- Human Trafficking Task Force (NAHTTF).

In a commendable initiative aimed at enhancing social welfare, the Navy came forward to provide safe drinking water to pilgrims engaged in Katharagama ‘Paada Yaathra’ from 10th to 29th June 2023. The Navy, as part of its Naval Social Responsibility initiatives, set up a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant in the Yala Lin Thuna area to quench the thirst of devotees during their arduous journey.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera donated an electric wheelchair to a permanently disabled retired senior sailor on 03rd July 2023. The donation took place at the residence of the retired Master Chief Petty Officer MUL Jayarathna, in Elpitiya.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera embarked on an official visit to Trincomalee-South in the Eastern Naval Command on 01st July 2023. During this visit, he focused on operational and welfare concerns of the Navy and Coast Guard in the area and also addressed a cross section of officers and sailors on Navy's preparedness for operations and as how to prudently overcome challenges.
