The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy on 28th January 2016 and called on the Mahanayakes of the Malwatte and the Asgiriya Chapters.

The Sri Lanka Navy being the competent authority in maintaining the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) for the ocean and seas around Sri Lanka rendered assistance to transfer a crew member of the Merchant Vessel “Venus R” who had a heart ailment onboard.

On completion of their four-day visit, the Indian naval aircraft carrier “INS Vikramaditya” and “INS Mysore”, joined with Sri Lankan Naval Ships “Sayura”, “Samudura” and three Fast Attack Craft in the seas off Colombo for a combined five-hour naval exercise on 24th January 2016.
