Sri Lanka Navy held a Joint Christian Commemoration and Thanksgiving Service at St. Lucia’s Cathedral in Colombo today (24) in view the Navy’s 66th anniversary, under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne.

The US Naval Ship, “USS Somerset” arrived at the Port of Trincomalee on a training visit on 22 November 2016, in view of sharing Theatre Security Cooperation (TSC) with the Sri Lanka Navy's Marine Forces. The military exchange will focus on enhancing relationships between the two Marine Corps, honing basic military skills and small boat operations that could support humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Buwaneka located in Nachchikuda in the North Central Naval Command arrested 7 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using monofilament nets in the seas off Iluppukadawai yesterday (23).

Eight Kayak Boats, produced at the Inshore Petrol Craft Construction facility in Welisara of the Sri Lanka Navy, ceremonially handed over to the Sri Lanka Army at Sri Lanka Army Special Forces Training Camp in Maduru Oya on 19th November 2016.

Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters this morning (23).

The Australian Border Force Commissioner, Mr. Roman Quadvlieg called on Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters today (22).

In view of the 66th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy which falls on 09th December 2016, a ceremony to invoke blessings on naval flags, was held at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura today (21) under the auspices of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne. The President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne was also present on this religious event.

Following a visionary concept of His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena and as part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s community service programmes carried out under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, two more Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants installed at Vavuniya Police station and Kokawewa village in Galenbindunuwewa, were declared open for community use yesterday (20).
